Let’s all make it home, Lyon.

Why is this a priority?
The numbers tell a scary story: in just four years, over 1,000 drivers in Lyon County were caught driving over 100mph. Between 2016 and 2020, our community lost 29 people to impaired driving and 14 to speed-related crashes. These aren't just numbers – they're our neighbors, friends, and family members. Every preventable accident affects our entire community – and all these deaths are preventable by slowing down and not getting behind the wheel while impaired.

How we’re helping
Through partnerships with the Zero Fatalities Program and Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, we're working to make our roads safer. We provide education programs, support law enforcement initiatives, and work with local businesses to offer safe transportation alternatives during major holidays. Our Zero Coalition partners even provide $5 Lyft ride discounts during high-risk periods like New Year's Eve and other major celebrations.

What can you do?
Safety starts with each of us. Set an example by practicing good road habits: follow speed limits, keep your phone away until you reach your destination, and always drive sober. Parents, show your children what responsible driving looks like. Have those important conversations about road safety with your family and create shared values that everyone follows.
